CUSHINGS-PETS is an unmoderated electronic forum open to anyone with an interest in Cushing's Syndrome and Cushing's Disease in animals, including owners and former owners of Cushinoid pets, as well as veterinary students and professionals. The topics covered focus on the sharing of information about Cushing's disease, its symptoms, side effects, treatment and long-term management.
CUSHINGS-PETS is intended to be an addition or accompaniment to, not a substitute for-professionally provided veterinary care.

message.
CUSHINGS-PETS is the first veterinary Cushing's related e-mail discussion
list. It is intended to be a forum for the sharing of information and
experience related to Cushinoid pets.
A wide variety of topics are appropriate to CUSHINGS-PETS, including
but
not limited to
It should be emphasized that CUSHINGS-PETS is self-moderated-that is,
governed by the principle "Think before you send". Messages posted
directly to the list go to all subscribers automatically.
The list manager reserves the right to remove any CUSHINGS-PETS member
for
any reason at any time, but being the nice person that she is, you'd have
to really upset her in order to be so ostracized.
To send a message to all the people currently subscribed to the list,
just send mail to the Cushing's-Pets address: CUSHINGS-PETS@LISTSERV.TAMU.EDU.
You can also tell LISTSERV how you want it to confirm the receipt of
messages you send to the list. If you do not trust the system, send a
"SET CUSHINGS-PETS REPRO" command and LISTSERV will send you
a copy of your own messages, so that you can see that the message was
distributed and did not get damaged on the way. After a while you may
find that this is getting annoying, especially if your mail program does
not tell you that the message is from you when it informs you that new
mail has arrived from CUSHINGS-PETS. If you send a
"SET CUSHINGS-PETS ACK NOREPRO" command, LISTSERV will mail
you a short
acknowledgement instead, which will look different in your mailbox
directory. With most mail programs you will know immediately that this is
an acknowledgement you can read later. Finally, you can turn off
acknowledgements completely with "SET CUSHINGS-PETS NOACK NOREPRO".
You may leave the list at any time by sending an email to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.TAMU.EDU with SIGNOFF CUSHINGS-PETS in the body of the message.
If you do leave, please be so kind as to send a note to the list manager at <cushings-pets@leslielawson.net> to let her know how you're dog is doing and why you're leaving. She worries about each and every one of the Cushing's babies, you know...
The CUSHINGS-PETS forum can be received as daily digests, delivered just after
midnight (central standard time) each morning. If you wish to receive the digested
version of the postings, just issue a SET CUSHINGS-PETS DIGEST command to the
listserve address <LISTSERV@LISTSERV.TAMU.EDU>.
Contributions sent to the CUSHINGS-PETS forum are automatically archived. They can be accessed in two ways.
1) via the Cushing's Web archive; or
2) You can get a list of the available archive files by sending an
"INDEX CUSHINGS-PETS"
command to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.TAMU.EDU. You can then order these files
with a "GET CUSHINGS-PETS LOGxxxx" command, or using LISTSERV's
database
search facilities. Send an "INFO DATABASE" command for more
information
on the latter.
More information on LISTSERV commands can be found in the LISTSERV
reference card, which you can retrieve by sending a message to the
listserv address <LISTSERV@LISTSERV.TAMU.EDU> with the following message
